Flower Care

When you have bought your flowers you want them to last as long as possible.

Follow these simple tips and your flowers will stay fresh for longer.

Skin Care

Flowers can sometimes contain a substance that could irritate your skin so it is important that after handling flowers you wash your hands!

Sun Stroke

Direct sunlight and heat can dry your flowers out and affect their ability to drink water. Keeping your flowers out of direct sunlight and refreshing their water every couple of days will help prolong their life.

Preparation

As a rule you should always cut the stems of your flowers before placing them in water. The best way to do this is with sharp scissors or a knife at an angle, about an inch from the end.

Don't forget to Strip!

Before you place flowers into water make sure any leaves and greenery are removed from the part of the stems that will be submeged in water. Failure to do so can cause rotting of the plant which can shorten its lifespan.

Lily Warning

Lilly Pollen is blooming serious stuff, it can stain fabric, clothes, and even skin. This can be avoided by removing the stamen as the lily opens.

If you have a stain do not rub it or wipe it... simply use sellotape to dab the pollen which should hopefully lift the stain from the surface.

Aqua boxes

This popular style of bouquet is already in water and so is relatively easy to care for. Simply top up your aquabox with water to ensure your flowers keep drinking.

Arrangements

Where flowers are arranged in oasis foam it is important that you top up the container daily to keep the foam moist. This feeds the flowers and helps them to last longer.

Don't eat the fruit!

Sometimes our arrangements include dried fruit which is for decorative purposes only. Do not eat. this will not extend your life span!

Shocking News

If your roses dip their heads then give them a shock!

Wrap them together in paper to keep their heads upright and recut the stems.

Plunge them into 2" of boiling water for about a minute, then place them into deep cold water.

This should help revive them.
